Enzyme Therapy: The Century-Old Cancer Treatment That Works

In our book 90 Days to Live: Beating Cancer When Modern Medicine Offers No Hope, we discuss the alternative cancer treatment we used to beat my terminal cancer.  Pancreatic Enzyme treatment was my cancer treatment of choice, and given the evidence in its favor, no one should close themselves off to its potential benefits. Dr. William Donald Kelley was one well-known proponent of Pancreatic Enzyme treatment, combining a metabolic type diet and personalized supplements, along with Pancreatic Enzymes plus a detoxification regimen with coffee enemas. Dr. Kelley believed that 97% of all cancers could be adequately treated or prevented by Pancreatic Enzymes and diet alone. Through his experience with over 33,000 patients, he believed that cancer is a symptom of inadequate and deficient protein metabolism, as well as nutritional deficiency in the body, and that chemotherapy, radiation and surgery treat only the symptoms of cancer and not the root cause.

Over 100 years ago, Dr. John Beard at the University of Edinburgh discovered that the body’s primary mechanism for destroying cancer is contained in pancreatin, a secretion from the pancreas that includes enzymes for digesting protein.  Among other things. Dr. Beard presented papers to show recoveries using pancreatin to attack the malignancy, without the toxic side effects on other functions of the body.

Dr. Kelley believed that you could not have cancer unless three factors were present:

  1. The presence of an ectopic germ cell
  2. The stimulating presence of the female sex hormones (both male and female have them)
  3. A deficiency of active pancreatic enzymes

He also believed that the body fails to produce an adequate amount of active Pancreatic Enzymes for one of three reasons:

  1. 83% Over working the pancreas by the intake of too much protein (especially animal protein)
  2. 10% Neurological injury to pancreatic enzyme production
  3. 7% Malfunction of body chemistry inactivating the enzymes

Enzymes work on cancer cells in a specific way. It all comes back to the fibrin that coats every cancer cell, shielding them from your immune system. The coating on the cancer cell is made of mucus and fibrin. Mucus is a glycoprotein (sugar and protein). Fibrin is a protein floating in the blood that allows blood to clot. This (biofilm) camouflage of mucus and fibrin prevents the white blood cells of the immune system from recognizing the cancer cell. Too much protein in the diet and refined foods such as white sugar and white flour deplete pancreatic enzymes, helping to open the way for cancer. Pancreatic Enzymes dissolve the protein and sugar coating of the cancer cell making it vulnerable to the attack of white blood cells.

Dr. Kelley’s story was one of a maverick intent on serving cancer patients, despite all the forces working against him. Dr. Kelley died in 2005, but others have since continued to pursue the treatment, convinced by all that Dr. Kelley had documented of its effectiveness. Nicolas Gonzalez, MD was one who met with Dr. Kelley and reviewed his findings.  Regarding the push-back against enzyme treatment, Gonzalez wrote, “Despite the careful documentation and the five-year investment of time, no one in academic medicine could, at the time, accept that a nutritional therapy might produce positive results with advanced cancer patients.” His research and surveys are undeniable, though, and they bear out an inconvenient truth for the pharmaceutical industry: sampling hundreds of patients Kelley had treated during his career, he found that just about every single one reported a relief of symptoms.  After Dr. Kelley’s death, Dr. Gonzalez went on to treat cancer patients for many years with Pancreatic Enzymes. Dr. Gonzalez died in 2015, and his associate of 20 years, Dr. Linda Isaacs continues to treat cancer patients with Pancreatic Enzymes. Pamela McDougle, who worked closely with Dr. Kelley for many years, also continues to support cancer patients with Pancreatic Enzymes and nutritional programs.
